Born in Sumy, Ukraine, he was an animal painter.

From 1891 to 1894 he studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts with Bogdan Willewalde.

In 1891 he became interested in hunting with dogs, which later became the main theme of his numerous paintings and graphic works.

In 1928 he moved to Orenburg and painted military pictures. In 1930 and 1932 he participated in exhibitions of the St. Petersburg Academy of Arts. His art is presented in the museums of Irkutsk, Orenburg and in numerous private collections.
